Pedro Alvarez & Allegheny River

Pittsburgh's Pedro Alvarez is the man behind this Daily Dinger - showcasing his power vs. the Houston Astros by dunking a ball in the Allegheny River. In this shot from 5/17/13, "El Toro" ties the game in the 8th inning with this mammoth home run. I'm a sucker for former college players, as I love the spirit of the college game, and Alvarez was a great college player for Vanderbilt.

If 2013 was any indication of what's to come for Alvarez, (who hit 36 home runs and knocked in 100), 2014 could place him among baseball's top run producers. With Andrew McCutchen - he of the .404 OBP - batting in front of him, Alvarez should be seeing pitches to hit and ducks on the pond.
